How big can you print this image?
Choose a photo or AI image. You'll see straight away, for each size, whether it prints sharply, with and without our upscaling. Your image stays on your device; nothing is uploaded.
Things you look at up close (up to A3) are sharp from 240 ppi and good from 200 ppi. Big sizes are seen from a distance: there 150 ppi is sharp and 120 ppi is good. Upscaling is done with an AI upscaler that doubles the width and height of the image.
How many pixels do you need?
The table shows the minimum image size for each print size, for a sharp or a good print without upscaling. Up to A3 we use 240 ppi for sharp and 200 ppi for good. Larger sizes are viewed from further away, so 150 and 120 ppi are enough. If your image is smaller than that, we upscale it with AI to twice its width and height.

Questions
Is a ChatGPT image big enough for a poster?
An image from ChatGPT is usually 1024 x 1536 or 1536 x 1024 pixels. Without upscaling, that is enough for a card. With our upscaling, it prints sharp at A4 and good at A2; at A3 it comes out slightly soft. Select your own image above to see the exact result.
What does ppi mean?
PPI stands for pixels per inch: the number of pixels printed along one inch (2.54 cm) of paper. The more pixels per inch, the sharper the print. You look at a poster on a wall from a distance, so it needs a lower ppi than a card you hold in your hand.
Is my photo uploaded when I choose it here?
No. The checker works in your own browser; your image never leaves your device. Only when you upload it on a product page do we receive the file to make the print proof.
